Led by the Katipunan,the revolutionaries fought hard to end three centuries of colonial subjugation. They finally won Philippine independence on June 12,1898 but it was a short-lived one. they waged an even bloodier struggle against the Americans who replaced the Spaniards as the new colonial master.
